Fighting for our Communities during COVID-19

06/15/2020

There’s no question that we are living in uncertain times. While our state moves forward with a phased approach to reopening the economy, we are here to lend a helping hand to our customers as they work to get back on their feet.

That’s why we recently held a webinar on economic development grants available through the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Assistance Program. Some $1.5 billion is immediately available for recovery activities, and we want to make sure our customers receive the funding they need to keep their non-profit organizations, schools and communities, afloat and flourishing.

Our guest speaker Clay Tufts, a special advisory for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s economic development authority, was able to give key insights into the CARES Act during the webinar. Tufts’ key insights both as a leader in this space and as a Louisiana native brought invaluable information for our customers.

As we begin to spring back from the impacts of the pandemic, we need to help meet the needs of those who have been most impacted. Now, more than ever, we need each other. The only way we move forward, as communities and as a state, is to work together.

Although Louisiana has just begun its journey back, the progress we’ve made is encouraging. And that progress is a direct result of our partnerships and resolve. Let’s continue to support one another, in whatever ways we can, to keep our momentum moving forward as we head toward a return to normal.

While we can't put all the pieces back in place, we can lean forward and support our neighbors through philanthropy, volunteerism, investments and resources to help reenergize the economy.
