Motorists Urged to Drive Cautiously in Work Areas

Port Arthur, Texas –The new year may be only three weeks old, but workers for Entergy Texas, Inc. have already started this year’s vegetation management work to help keep the lights on in Southeast Texas.

A project to clear lines in the Port Arthur area began last week with customers urged to be alert for workers and to drive cautiously in those areas.

Contract crews began work on a 14.4-mile-long power line that serves 1,203 customers from the Kolbs Substation on 39th St. The power line serves an area south and east of the Highway 73 and Memorial Boulevard intersection in Port Arthur with the main trunk of the line running along Ninth Avenue.

“All of our power lines, whether in densely populated cities or along rural county roads, are on a regular maintenance schedule to help ensure a safe, reliable supply of power to our customers,” said Ron Fletcher, customer service representative for the area.

While crews will be in highly-visible bucket trucks, customers can expect to see specialized equipment in the area, plus crews working manually to remove vegetation.

Entergy Texas, Inc. provides electricity to more than 426,000 customers in 27 counties. It is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation. Entergy is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations.
