Proposed $1B investment will cut outage times by half

Plan will reduce post-storm costs and outages, restore service faster, and spur economic growth

On Monday, Dec. 5, Entergy New Orleans and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) celebrated the groundbreaking of the first phase of the West Power Complex, which includes a dedicated substation. When Phase I is complete, the facility will draw power from the Entergy New Orleans grid for day-to-day use and modern, in-house turbine generators for backup.

Regulatory filing is next step in Entergy’s resilience conversation with regulators, communities.

Entergy New Orleans will begin construction on the new Sullivan substation at the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans’ (SWBNO) Carrollton site.

Entergy New Orleans continues to invest in improving the reliability of its electric and gas infrastructure. Through our strategic investments, we have made progress in reducing customer interruptions from distribution equipment impacts by more than 38% since 2018.

The Green Power Option gives residential and business customers in New Orleans the power to match some or all of their electricity usage with clean, renewable energy generated in Louisiana.

Building upon the $10 million spend in the city last fall to improve service reliability, Entergy New Orleans is spending an additional $30 million on further improvements over the next two years that will help make the electrical system stronger and more resilient.
