Entergy Mississippi: Here When You Need Us – Especially Now

05/13/2020

The men and women of Entergy Mississippi are always here when our state needs us – and that is even more true in times like this. That is why in addition to providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity to those sheltering in place at home during the peak of a spring storm season, our people are also working on solutions to help our customers and communities hurt by the financial hardship brought about during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Billing Assistance

Working with the Mississippi Public Service Commission, Entergy Mississippi has developed several new payment assistance options for our customers who are having difficulty paying their Entergy bill. These new options build on Entergy’s current programs and are designed to provide flexibility and support for customers during this time. For assistance with billing, call us at 1-800-ENTERGY (368-3749).

Suspension of disconnects

Non-pay disconnections have been suspended pursuant to MPSC since March 15.

Payment Plans

We will work with customers, as needed, on an individual basis to establish a payment arrangement.

Customer Outreach

We will be directly contacting customers with outstanding balances by email and mail providing direction on how to access payment assistance options.

Level Billing

Some residential customers may choose to switch to level billing, which will help customers in budgeting their electricity bills going forward as each monthly bill will be roughly the same based on the historical 12 month rolling average.

Fee suspensions

Bill Matrix fees for online and telephone payments were suspended effective April 9 and will appear as a credit on bills.

Community Assistance

We recently launched the Mississippi Relief Fund by donating $385,000 of shareholder dollars to 15 local nonprofits to help Mississippians who have been hard hit financially and do not have resources for basic needs. Entergy shareholders also recently doubled their match of customer donations to The Power to Care Fund, which provides emergency bill payment assistance to seniors and the disabled, from $500,000 to $1 million. These organizations received funds and may be able to provide you with assistance.

Rate Reduction

Working with the MPSC, Entergy Mississippi accelerated a rate reduction that, once approved, will lower rates for customers from June through September. The typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will pay $9.71 less per month. This reduction will help Mississippians financially impacted by COVID-19 during some of the hottest months of the year when energy use is often high.

Customer Information Hub

We have created a hub of resources at our Entergy Mississippi website to connect small business owners as well as residential customers to tools and opportunities that could help them during the pandemic. These resources are at Small Business Resources and Residential Customer Resources. For assistance with billing, call us at 1-800-ENTERGY (368-3749).

Entergy Mississippi is experiencing many of the same issues as other businesses during this crisis, such as lower cash-flows as we work with our many thousands of customers who currently are unable to pay for their service. We are committed to utilizing the financial stability we have worked hard to maintain to not only persevere during this crisis, but also to help our communities recover more quickly once this crisis passes.

Thank you for your leadership and for what you are doing for your community and for Mississippi. Please know, as always, that Entergy Mississippi is here when you need us…especially now.
